Singapore's first: No. 140 (Osprey) Squadron Hunter F74S, October 1972 with Squadron pilots.

Delivery of 47 refurbished Hunters from Hawker Siddeley Aircraft Ltd. (HAL) began in 1971 and was completed in late 1973. Two RSAF operational squadrons were formed: No. 140 (Osprey) and No. 141 (Merlin), both at Tengah Air Base. Lockheed Aircraft Services progressively updated this Hunter force. Weapons Training detachments to Australia were carried out initially by both these Hunter squadrons in the 1980s. No. 140 (Osprey) Squadron converted to Lockheed F-16A/B Fighting Falcons in 1990.
